John (Tsa:ni):
Came from a Christian family.
Paternal grandfather was a circuit riding preacher and church planter and
pastor in MO, AR, OK, CA. He rode horseback.
John grew up with traditional elders .. and influenced
by his own family elders, as well as Native Californian People, as well as
during Eisenhower's day ... many who were transplanted from other
Tribes.
He began in powwows in 1952 when he was 16. Also, he began
"Native ministry" in 1958. Ministered in the Protestant Chapel
at Sherman Institute, native youth pastor, involved in powwows. Native
pastor as well as preaching in Indian churches of several denominations
and ministered in CA. OR. WA, ID, MT, SD, OK.
For 21 years of his life, John was a police officer as
well as a native minister. They used their own income to travel to
native camp-meetings and ceremonies.
Although he was ordained in a different denomination for
a long time, his papers were accepted by the Church of the Nazarene and
they were transferred to their current denomination where-in they serve.
Gerri:
Gave her heart to Jesus when she was 9 and received His
life in her. Her family were Episcopalian. Gerri loved studying the
Scriptures. Was involved in John MacArthur's church, Panorama City, CA, for
many years and was involved in witnessing teams in the southern California
area.
